An RV rental for spring training in Tampa works best when the RV stays parked at a campground and you drive your own car or ride transit to the games. Three Grapefruit League teams train within Tampa Bay: the Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, the Phillies at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater and the Blue Jays at TD Ballpark in Dunedin. MLB has set February 19, 2027 as the first day of spring games for all 30 clubs.
This guide is for fans planning a week or two of ballgames with family or friends from one home base. It covers the 2027 dates the teams have published, what the official stadium pages say about RV parking, where to camp, and which of our RVs fits the plan. One caution up front: MLB's labor agreement with the players expires December 1, 2026, and the Associated Press reported that the February 19 start depends on a deal. Build some flexibility into your booking.
Games begin Friday, February 19, 2027, and the regular season opens March 24, according to MLB's 2027 spring training announcement. On opening day the Yankees travel to Dunedin to play the Blue Jays. Here is what each team has published so far:

Two more camps sit within reach if you want extra games: the Tigers host the Phillies in Lakeland on February 19, and the Pirates open at LECOM Park in Bradenton the same day against Toronto. The Phillies release notes that its schedule is subject to change, so recheck dates before you pay for anything.
Yes at BayCare Ballpark, where the Phillies list RV and bus parking at $50 in Lot C (Joe DiMaggio Complex) and Lot F (St. Pete College), both served by a free shuttle. The same page warns that any oversized vehicle taking more than one space is charged for the extra spaces. Car parking there is listed at $15 in advance or $20 on game day.
Steinbrenner Field's parking page sends fans to Raymond James Stadium Lots 1, 2 and 4 off Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Himes Avenue, but it does not mention RVs. Call the ballpark at 813-875-7753 before driving a motorhome there. The City of Dunedin's TD Ballpark page does not cover RV parking either, and it notes a resident parking permit program enforced on game days in the neighborhoods around the park. In 2025, PSTA ran a free park-and-ride for ticket holders from downtown Dunedin, every 15 minutes from 90 minutes before first pitch; check whether it returns in 2027.
None of the official parking pages we checked offer overnight RV parking. Plan to sleep at a campground and treat the ballpark as a day trip.
The best base depends on which team you follow most. These campgrounds publish their RV details on official sites:

For most spring training trips, a delivered travel trailer plus your own car is the simpler plan. We offer delivery and setup to campgrounds, including Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Fort De Soto Park, depending on the RV, so you never tow it, and you skip the RV parking question at the ballpark. A motorhome makes sense if you want to move between Dunedin, Clearwater, Tampa and Lakeland during the trip, but at BayCare you would pay the RV rate and possibly extra spaces. Delivery fees and radius are not published, so ask when you request a quote. See our Clearwater RV rental page for that area.

Match the unit to your group size and how much you plan to move. Nightly figures here come from our 2026 price list. A ballgame week in peak season, extra fees, miles driven, add-ons and any delivery all change the final quote.
Honest limit: if you only want one or two games, a hotel near the ballpark may be simpler than an RV and a campsite. The RV pays off when you stay a week or more, bring a group, or want to cook and tailgate at camp between games.
Yes, at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, where the Phillies list RV and bus parking at $50 in Lots C and F, with extra charges if you take more than one space. Steinbrenner Field and TD Ballpark do not list RV parking on their official pages, so call before you drive a motorhome there.
Stay at a campground and drive to the games. Good bases include the Clearwater / Lake Tarpon KOA in Palm Harbor for Dunedin and Clearwater, Fort De Soto Park in Pinellas County, Hillsborough River State Park near Tampa, and Hillsborough County's conservation parks.
MLB scheduled the first games for Friday, February 19, 2027, with the regular season opening March 24. The Yankees open in Dunedin against the Blue Jays, and the Phillies' home opener at BayCare Ballpark is February 20.
Yes. The Yankees play at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater on February 21, March 3 and March 10, and the Blue Jays play there on February 20, March 6 and March 16, so a one-week stay in Pinellas County can cover all three teams.
Book as soon as your dates are set. Fort De Soto and the Hillsborough County conservation parks take reservations up to six months ahead, and Florida State Parks such as Hillsborough River take them up to 11 months ahead.
Yes. The Phillies list their schedule as subject to change, and MLB's labor agreement expires December 1, 2026, which could affect the start of spring games. Ask about our cancellation terms before you book, and recheck team schedules close to your trip.
